NMMC is the only Uzbekistan company mining and producing uranium ready for export as the end product in the form of tri-uranium octoxide (U3O8). 20 deposits and10 perspective areas make the mineral reserve base for uranium production. Uranium production develops intensively due to mining expansion of operating plants and commissioning of new units.

All uranium in the Combinat has been produced by means of in-situ leaching (ISL) for the last 15 years. This method made it possible to change and enlarge raw material base in essence owing to involvement of low-grade ores from sandstone deposits of Kyzylkum region into profitable development. Modern technologies based on the use of mobile high-performance drilling and load-haul-dump machines are used to develop the deposits. Increase in uranium production has become reasonable because of the rise in its world market price. For the years of independence we commenced re-equipment of the uranium plants, constructed and commissioned two new ISL mines on Kendyktube and Lyavlyakan deposits. We perform pilot works for ISL uranium production on Sugraly and Tokhumbet deposits. Northern Kanimekh, Alendy, Meylisay deposits have been recently put into operation.

At present, six ISL mines are in operation, reserves of nine deposits are involved in development. Uranium containing product recovered from the mines is processed at HMP-1 in Navoi, following that as a final product (U3O8) it is offered for sale. NMMC attention is focused on environment and radiation safety issues. Over 30624 hectares of land have been reclamated and returned to the national economy.

Specialists and technical experts from IAEA and the Swedish Radiation Protection Institute visited NMMC operations many times. According to the conclusion made by the experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency the level of uranium technologies developed by engineering thought of our specialists surpasses the average world level, and mini-reagent technology has no world analogues. For the years of independence owing to opened up possibilities to modernize operating facilities and construct new ones, all NMMC enterprises have been modernized and equipped with both local and import modern mining equipment. They have the latest computing machinery, instrumentation, technologies of computer-aided design and development of deposits, product quality management methods.
