Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Company JSC (NMMC) announces its accession to the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainability initiative.

The UN Global Compact brings together companies committed to upholding universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. Launched in 2000 as an initiative of the UN Secretary-General, the Global Compact provides a platform for fostering responsible corporate conduct and integrating long-term sustainability practices into business strategies.

NMMC’s accession to the UN Global Compact reflects the company’s commitment to adhering to its 10 principles, enhancing corporate governance, increasing transparency and integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its operations. Participation in the initiative will also provide access to international capacity-building programmes, expert knowledge and a global network of partners.

Today, the UN Global Compact unites more than 25,000 companies from 167 countries. In 2025, the organization launched the Central Asia Network - a multi-country regional hub that brings together over 150 companies across five countries and supports the accelerated adoption of sustainable business practices.

NMMC’s accession to the UN Global Compact marks an important milestone in reinforcing the company’s international reputation as a responsible, sustainable, and forward-looking participant in the global mining industry.
