At NMMC, responsible waste management and the safe storage of tailings are central to our sustainable development priorities. As part of this commitment, we are implementing a major investment project to expand and upgrade the Tailings Storage Facility of Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2 (HMP-2), enabling the joint storage of waste from HMP-2 and HMP-7 through 2032.

The project includes the construction of new storage cells, installation of critical engineering infrastructure and deployment of advanced equipment for safe tailings handling.

Progress to date:
✅ Over 12 km of pipelines installed for tailings transport
✅ 75 pipeline compensators installed for pressure control
✅ Over 60 industrial valves of various sizes installed

Works are ongoing at the first and second tailings storage areas, raising tailings dumps to the planned heights. This project ensures compliance with modern environmental and safety standards, mitigates industrial risks and reinforces NMMC’s leadership in sustainable mining practices.
