Interview with the chief power engineer of “NMMC” JSC

There was published an interview with the chief power engineer of “NMMC” JSC G. Kholboev on the topic of work carried out in the energy sector at the enterprise in the issue of the newspaper “Konchilar hayoti” №13 dated July 16, 2022.

In this interview, the chief power engineer of “NMMC” JSC G. Kholboev noted that the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the use of renewable energy sources” dated May 21, 2019, is of great importance for the development of the energy sector.

According to the data, in 2022-2024, it is planned to build 10 solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of 3 000 megawatts at the expense of $3 billion in foreign direct investment. Work is underway to increase the total capacity of solar and wind power plants to 8 000 megawatts by 2026. To date, the selection of investors for the construction of 5 solar power plants with a capacity of 900 megawatts in Khorezm, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Namangan and Fergana regions is being completed.

In addition, at the international climate summit held in Glasgow (Scotland), Uzbekistan announced an initiative to reduce the share of greenhouse gases per unit of gross domestic product by 35% by 2030 compared to 2010. Of course, there are all possibilities and grounds for this in Uzbekistan.

The company has also developed its own strategy for the widespread introduction of renewable energy sources in production and social facilities.

In particular, at the moment, in cooperation with ABREST Energy Engineering LLC, as well as with the involvement of specialists from Production automation department and Navoi machine-building plant, work is underway on the construction of a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 200 megawatts, the production and commissioning of solar installations and the necessary equipment, materials and components for them, using secondary energy released from concentrate and limestone incinerators.

In addition, practical work is underway to install solar installations in the houses of the managers and employees of the company. This will save energy and money, while creating additional opportunities for the company and houses in the future.

The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the use of renewable energy sources” dated May 22, 2019, provides for a number of benefits and preferences for the introduction of solar, wind and renewable energy sources. In particular, from the beginning of the use of renewable energy sources, lands occupied by energy producers, including non-state enterprises, and renewable energy installations (with a nominal capacity of 0.1 megawatts and above) will be exempt from paying property and land taxes for ten years.

It is also planned to provide benefits for those who use renewable energy sources in residential buildings. That is, individuals will be exempt from paying property and land taxes, starting from the month when they start using renewable energy sources with a complete disconnection from existing energy networks. In addition, the law stipulates that obtaining a permit for electricity producers for their own needs is not required.
