The investment project aimed at the development of the Muruntau deposit is an important part of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company’s efforts to increase precious metals production. As the open pit is deepened, conveyor systems are increasingly used to reduce the time and distance required to transport mined material by haul trucks, as well as fuel and operating costs.

In recent years, NMMC has placed particular emphasis on the construction and expansion of high-capacity conveyor systems. As part of the investment project “Development of the Muruntau Open Pit, Phase V, Stage II,” work is currently underway to construct Conveyor Lines No. 5 and 6, with a combined length of 7.7 kilometres, to optimise mining and material transportation processes at the mine.

Once fully operational, the new conveyor lines are expected to reduce the distance travelled by haul trucks, lower diesel fuel consumption, and help reduce dust and gas emissions.

The equipment required for the conveyor lines has been fully localised at NMMC’s Navoi Machine-Building Plant and Zarafshan Repair and Mechanical Plant. Construction and installation works are being carried out by the Zarafshan Construction Department.
